Fundacion para la Juventud el Ambiente y los Deportes
YFSE’s collaboration with the Costa Rican community began on October 27, 1993, through an alliance with the now-defunct National Youth Movement. However, faced with the threat of a potential desert in Central America due to indiscriminate deforestation and recognizing that forests are vital for the planet’s biological diversity, YFSE embarked on the task of researching a solution, giving rise to the program Podemos ser Heroes PSH®.
YFSE Programs
YFSE offers a wide range of programs designed to address various environmental and social issues. From reforestation initiatives to biodiversity conservation projects, each YFSE program is carefully crafted to generate a positive impact on the environment and local communities. Through environmental education, community engagement, and innovation, these programs aim to inspire and empower individuals to become agents of change in the fight for a more sustainable future. With a focus on direct action and tangible results, YFSE programs are actively transforming our world towards a path of greater balance and harmony with nature.
From reforestation initiatives to ecosystem restoration projects, each YFSE program is designed to make a positive impact on the health of the planet and the resilience of local communities in the face of environmental challenges. Through environmental education, promotion of sustainable practices, and collaboration with key stakeholders, YFSE works tirelessly to inspire and empower individuals to take action in protecting our natural environment and creating a more sustainable future.
At the heart of our earthly existence lies an invaluable treasure: trees. They are pillars of life, custodians of biodiversity, and allies in the fight against climate change. Conserving trees is not just a necessity; it is a commitment to our own future. At the YFSE Foundation, we are passionately dedicated to preserving these natural treasures, knowing that each protected tree is a step towards a more prosperous and sustainable tomorrow. Join us in this noble cause.
Why do we need to plant trees?
Planting trees is a crucial action for mitigating climate change and preserving the environment. One of the key challenges we face is the increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, which is responsible for global warming and its devastating effects. Let me explain why tree planting is vital for our planet:
Trees are experts at absorbing CO2 during photosynthesis, thereby reducing the concentration of this greenhouse gas responsible for the greenhouse effect and climate change.
Through photosynthesis, trees generate oxygen, a vital element for the respiration of humans, animals, and other organisms.
Forests serve as natural habitats for a wide variety of animal and plant species. By planting trees, we contribute to biodiversity preservation and the protection of vulnerable ecosystems.
Forests play a crucial role in regulating both local and global climates. They help mitigate extreme temperatures, control soil erosion, and maintain water balance in nature.
Trees filter pollutants from the air and water, enhancing the quality of these vital resources for life.
Tree planting also provides renewable and sustainable resources, such as wood, fruits, fibers, and natural medicines, benefiting both local communities and the environment.
Tree planting represents an invaluable investment for the present and future of our planet. Each planted tree is a step toward a healthier, balanced, and sustainable environment for generations to come.
¿What are the benefits of planting a tree?
IN LARGE MASSES, TREES MANAGE TO REDUCE THE
NOISE
TREES FILTER OUT DUST PARTICLES AND OTHERS POLLUTANS FROM THE AIR.
TREES RELEASE WATER VAPOR
THAT REFRESH AND HUMIDIFIES THE AIR
TREES CAPTURE ATMOSPHERIC C02 AND CONVERTE IT INTO OXYGEN
THEY FUNCTION LIKE SMALL ECOSYSTEMS WHERE ANIMALS AND INSECTS THAT INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER
TREES PROTECT THE SOIL, AVOIDING ITS WEAR AND EROSION. IN TURN THEY PROTECT THE AQUIFERS
TREES INTERVENE IN THE WATER CYCLE. RETURNING WATER TO THE ATMOSPHERE THROUGH EVAPORATION
TREES RETAIN RAINWATER, ALLOWING IT TO FILTER INTO THE AQUIFERS, THEREBY PREVENTING DROUGHTS AND FLOODS."
FOR EVERY TREE YOU PLANT YOU GUARANTEE WATER FOR 3

The world is full of Heroes for the Environment
